3 Dec – With a new debut of Disney's latest animated film feature "Frozen", the film has gotten itself into a box office battle with last week's (29 November – 1 December) strong contender "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", and they are certainly putting up a good fight! "Frozen" managed to win out against last week's winner during last weekend's box office in Malaysia, topping not only "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" but Malaysian local debuts like "Ustaz, Mu Tunggu Aku Datang" and horror film "Penanggal". But the kid-friendly feature film did not manage to beat out "Catching Fire" in both the U.S. and Singapore, as the film starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson about the continuation of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark who spark a rebellion in the Districts of Panem stayed in first place.
In the U.S., the post-apocalyptic themed film beat out Disney's "Frozen" feature along with "Thor: The Dark World" in third place, and "The Best Man Holiday" in fourth. Other new releases in Malaysia last week are "Bullett Raja", "Jannal Oram", "Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham" and "Homefront". Other new releases in Singapore last week are "Bullett Raja", "The Counselor", "Rigor Mortis", "Diana", "Oldboy" and "Paradise".
