Gosling and Efron for "Star Wars 7"

Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron may be joining "Star Wars 7" as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo's sons, respectively.

29 Jul – Despite the initial wariness from fans about rebooting a beloved franchise (by Disney, no less), speculations about the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII" are running wild, with the latest rumours being Hollywood heartthrobs Ryan Gosling and Zac Efron to join the epic space opera saga.

32-year-old Gosling has reportedly been offered the role of Luke Skywalker's son as he is at the perfect age to play the role. As for Efron, the actor is expected to play the role of Han Solo's son.

Meanwhile, another familiar face has been confirmed to be joining the new "Star Wars" trilogy: John Williams, who composed the scores for all six of the saga's previous entries. The five-time Oscar winner has won the 1977 Oscar for Best Original Score for "A New Hope" and earned a second nomination for his work for 1980's "The Empire Strikes Back".

Composer John Williams will return to score the new "Star Wars" trilogy.

Reports are saying that in addition to Gosling and Efron, director J.J. Abrahms and his team are currently looking into other few big names to join returning cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.

Previously, there was also speculation that Leonardo DiCaprio was in talks to star in the film, but "The Great Gatsby" actor had turned down the opportunity to do so as he is in the midst of developing a film based on the science fiction anime, "Robotech".

"Star Wars: Episode VII" will be penned by screenwriter Michael Arndt and produced by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and is expected to storm into theatres in 2015.
