27 Jan – Has the happily married Jack Lim sets his sights on long-time colleague and co-star Vivian Tok? The scandalous-sounding piece of news is actually just a sacrifice made in the name of shooting "Once Upon A Time". In a scene involving Lim stabbing Tok in the chest, Lim had inadvertently placed his hand directly on Tok's chest, resulting in a 'molestation' scene. "My character is a eunuch in the movie. So, it means I am actually a man, so it's not as bad as it seems," said Tok. The good-natured cast, who were present at the press preview on 22 January, poked fun at the pair, inquiring who actually made the bigger sacrifice, Jack or Vivian? Jokes aside, the preview had also been an emotional one for Lim as "Once Upon A Time" has finally been green-lit for a 7 February release. The movie's release date had hit a snag when Wajib Tayang changed its rules in the month of May last year, threatening a delay in the release date, which will result in it not coinciding with the Chinese New Year celebrations.
"It is all thanks to the help of the media that the movie got approved for our ideal release date. If they hadn't made inquiries to various ministers along the way, I doubt "Once Upon A Time" would have gotten enough attention for the approval," said Lim. The MY FM DJ also became emotional at the mention of family, apparently evoking the memory of his wife's miscarriage caused by the stressful situation of the movie's predicament. Hopefully, the movie will do as well in the box office after the turmoil that Lim had gone through. "Once Upon A Time" is loosely based on a radio skit on MY FM that addresses social issues in a creative way. The story follows the adventures of an emperor, his eunuch and his servant girl, who time-travels to modern Kuala Lumpur, resulting in many misadventures. There will be many cameos from Astro Radio's DJs and also Malaysia's 'big brother' Rosyam Nor. "Once Upon A Time" will be released in local cinemas on 7 February 2013.
