4 Sep – After being blocked twice by the censorship board and numerous edits, local director James Lee has decided to release "Claypot Curry Killers" exclusively on Astro First. Previously, producers are reported to be working on an international cut of the film with Lee's original vision intact in order to get a release date for the cannibalism horror film in cinemas in Malaysia, but in a recent interview with Cinema Online, they have decided to forgo a local theatrical release. Instead, the film will be straight-to-TV.
Malaysian TVB artiste Debbie Goh, who makes her local acting debut in the film, is disappointed that audiences will not be able tosee her vicious side as Xi Xi, the eldest daughter in the murderous family, but hopes that they will eagerly await her next local film, "Bullets Over Petaling Street". "Claypot Curry Killers" tells the story of a mother and three daughters who are driven to murder malicious and lewd men at night in order to secure meat for their claypot curry business in the day. The film is targeting for an October release this year.
