28 Sep – Local actress Nora Danish may look sweet and demure, but the actress performed almost all of her fighting scenes personally in her newest film, "Bencinta", for the sake of her fans. "Oh, all of it was all real. There were few times a stand-in was used, but only when it was too extreme or when I could not make it for filming. For the fighting scenes, I really had to do it myself because if I didn't, it would not look realistic." Nora was the only one who performed most of her own stunts. "He [Farid] got beaten up really badly, so he got more bruises than me!" she added.
According to Mejar David Teo, the film's producer, "BenCinta" is a portmanteau of the words benci (hate) and cinta (love). The story tells of a woman named Fathia who falls in love with a wealthy and good-looking man named Faizal and weds him, only to realize years later about her husband's true nature. As her husband becomes more abusive, she runs away to a remote place with the help of her best friend, but is soon found by Faizal. Fathia comes to the conclusion that she has to learn the art of self-defence in order to escape from Faizal once and for all. "BenCinta" is director Erya Rahman's third film after "Aku Terima Nikahnya" and "Dua Kalimah". "To me the film delivers the message that a woman is a gift from God. She should be appreciated and not be stepped on or beaten. To women who have gone through abuse, hopefully this film will encourage you to continue living," says Erya Rahman.
