Singer to direct "Apocalypse"

"X-Men: Apocalypse" soon to be a reality.

11 Dec – Director Bryan Singer, who is responsible for many modern hits like "Valkyrie", the first two "X-Men", "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and even tv show "House M.D." had tweeted about a week ago a very vague but very exciting "X-Men: Apocalypse", and the year 2016.

While the tweet was pretty unclear, 'Apocalypse' in the Marvel comics is an ancient and incredibly powerful mutant who has tangled with the X-Men on more than one occasion and even turned Wolverine and Angel into his destructive associates for a time.

With "X-Men: Days of Future Past" still yet to be released next year, the announcement of "Apocalypse" is a little unorthodox but it still is creating a lot of buzz in the movie world.

After Singer's tweet, we found out from Vulture that the famed director is planning on directing the film aimed to be released in 2016.

"After finishing up next summer's "-Men: Days of Future Past", Singer will indeed be behind the camera on the new film," writes Vulture.

The upcoming film will also weave together the veteran "X-Men cast" (including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Halle Berry) and the younger actors introduced in "X-Men: First Class" (James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence), and "Apocalypse" will be a direct sequel set up after "Days of Future Past", focusing strictly on the younger McAvoy-Fassbender cast.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be in cinemas 22 May 2014.
