27 Feb – Kids staying at the Paediatric Hospital in Universiti Malaya will have the opportunity to experience "Star Wars" unlike any other, as Malaysia's Official Star Wars Fan Club has crafted a mural based on the successful franchise. The artistic mural features "Star Wars" characters that are fans' favourites and positive messages and the effort is done, donated and organised by members of the Official Star Wars Fan Club in Malaysia.
The fan club donated the money they had from the sales of the Malaysian Ultimate Saga Experience 2012 Premium Gift Packs and the charity auction during the recent movie marathon, and they began painting in early January after talks between them and Tintoy Chuo and his art department from KBU College and obtaining approval from the hospital. The outcome of their efforts and donations were positive, with the hospital staff raving about how the children who go into the room are happier with the recognisable and cheerful mural surrounding them.
"We would always want to plan for more rooms, if anyone would like to donate to the fund we have," says President of the Star Wars Fan Club, Adi Azhar. "We will make things more cheerful in the Paediatrics Hospital, and we were invited to do two rooms here. We have only done one so far, and with luck, we can create the second room with more funds."
