3 Jun – According to Communications and Multimedia minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shaberi Cheek, it has been officially confirmed that Shuhaimi Baba's controversial film, "Tanda Putera", will finally be shown in local cinemas on 29 August 2013. The decision was made after Ahmad Shaberi Cheek made a visit to the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) today. The historical film, which depicts the relationship between the Malaysia's second Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and his Deputy Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Ismail Abdul Rahman as well as their efforts to restore the country following the events of the racial riots in 1969, particularly on 13 May 1969.
Directed by Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba, "Tanda Putera" stars Rusdi Ramli, Zizan Nin, Faezah Elai, Linda Hashim, Norman Hakim, Kavita Sidhu and Riezman Khuzaimi. The film is produced by Pesona Pictures Sdn Bhd and FINAS with cooperation from Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC). Previously, Ahmad Shabery made a public call through the media for FINAS to allow the film to be shown in Malaysia's cinemas as he felt that the public can make their own evaluations about the message in the film about the events of 13 May 1969.
