"Vishwaroopam" to screen soon

Kamal Hassan's "Vishwaroopam" will be re-screened in Malaysia soon.

6 Feb – Fans will be thrilled to know that Kamal Hassan's Tamil spy thriller "Vishwaroopam" may screen at local cinemas as soon as this Friday, 8 February 2013.

The controversial piece had already gone through a strict censorship process by the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia (LPF), with up to nine scenes cut out before it was released in cinemas on 24 January 2013, However, that still did not stop it from being pulled out from the screening list on that same day, under the orders from Home Ministry due to protests from Indian-Muslim groups, who claimed that the movie's violent and religious content as derogatory.

Now, it is reported that the authorities are going to remove more scenes from the movie in order for it to hit the screens without public disputes.

Kamal Hassan produced, wrote, directed and stars in "Vishwaroopam".

"The Film Censorship Board had already taken out nine scenes in "Vishwaroopam" before it was released here and now we have agreed to let them edit seven more scenes to have muted dialogues," said Garuna Murthee, Director of Lotus Five Stars (LFS) who is the film's local distributor.

It was reported that the seven scenes mentioned were the same ones that were censored in Tamil Nadu and LFS is still waiting for the approval from Home Ministry and Film Censorship Board before deciding on an actual release date for the movie, however LFS had mentioned to Cinema Online that the date of release may most likely be as soon as this Friday, 8 February 2013.

On another note, fans in Tamil Nadu will get to catch "Vishwaroopam" in cinemas tomorrow.
