2 Sep – The latest film by Grand Brilliance, "KL Zombi" directed by Woo Ming Jin is seen as capable of becoming the new benchmark of local films. According to General Manager of Grand Brilliance Tengku Iesta Tengku Alaudin, the film is an adaptation of a fictional novel written by Adib Zaini titled "Zombijaya", which was inspired by the television drama series "The Walking Dead". It is considered to be the first zombie film, complete with make-up and special effects on par with international movies.
"In line with our mission to become a new benchmark for local films ,"KL Zombi" is the first film to feature zombies with special effects make-up that include prostheses, latex and special contact lenses and costume that is approved of and modified appropriately for each zombie in the film". "The filming locations chosen had to be in a state of disarray to give off a post-zombie attack feel," he also said at the premiere screening of the film at eCurve.
It is clear that the extras that took part as zombies also had to ensure that they are able to act like a real zombie. "KL Zombi" comes with a cast of popular actors such as Zizan Razak, Siti Saleha, Izara Aisha, Faezah Elai, Zain Hamid, Azhan Rani, Usop Wilcha, Iedil Putra and Afiq Izuddin. The film was released at local cinemas in Malaysia on August 29, 2013.
