"Ah Boys To Men" musical takes to the stage

From film to stage: "Ah Boys To Men" to "Ah Boys To Men The Musical".

18 Apr – The popularity of "Ah Boys To Men" led Singaporean director Jack Neo to turn the film into a musical entitled "Ah Boys To Men The Musical".

According to Resorts World Sentosa, the musical will run from 18 April to 27 April at their Resorts World Theatre. Tickets retail from SGD 38.

The premise for the musical is similar to the two-part comedy film, revolving around a bunch of green recruits in National Service in Singapore that are stationed in Pulau Tekong.

The original cast from the movie such as Tosh Zhang, Wang Weiliang, Maxi Lim and Noah Yap will reprise their roles in the musical but local band Sam Willows' lead singer, Benjamin Kheng will replace Joshua Tan who is studying abroad as the new recruit Ken Chow.

When asked what viewers can expect from this musical, the cast replied, "In the musical, it's the closest thing to the sequel of "Ah Boys To Men 2". You get to see us, touch us, smell us and hear us sing."

The musical is directed by Beatrice Chia Richmond with music and lyrics by Don Richmond.
