29 Mar - One of the largest distributors of Hong Kong films in Singapore, Clover Films have acquired a dozen new Chinese language films at the Hong Kong FilMart recently. The Hong Kong FilMart is an annual distribution and acquisition of Hong Kong based television programs, animation, film and other source of entertainment to create more opportunities all over the world for Hong Kong companies. According to Filmbiz Asia, the films that have been picked up included five from Emperor Motion Pictures ("Kung Fu Jungle", "With or Without", "Two Thumbs Up", "That Demon Within" and "No Man's Land"), and four films Media Asia Film Distribution ("Helios", "Don't Go Breaking My Heart 2", "Campus Confidential" and "Urban Games".) Clover Films also acquired two films from Star Alliance Movies ("Gangster Pay Day" and "Enthralled") and one from Edko Films ("Coming Home"). In addition to distributing the films in Singapore, Clover Films also plan to distribute some titles to Malaysia. "With the right products and the right release dates, Hong Kong films can do well. While some Hong Kong films perform well in both Malaysia and Singapore, comedies tend to do better in Malaysia and more sophisticated products are better received in Singapore", said Lim Teck, founder of Clover Films. In 2014, the company aims to distribute 25 titles in Singapore and 10 in Malaysia.
