Drew Goddard in talks for "Sinister Six"

Drew Goddard is in talk to direct Sony's Spider-Man spinoff, "The Sinister Six" from his own script".

9 Apr – Fans already know that Sony will be expanding "The Amazing Spider-Man" universe with spin-off films "Venom" and "The Sinister Six" with Drew Goddard to write and possibly direct. The studio recently revealed that the screenwriter/director is in talks to direct Sony's Spider-Man spinoff "The Sinister Six" from his own script.

According to Variety, Goddard is one of five writers who will collaborate on overseeing the developing story over several films, but has yet to close the deal. The others are Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and Ed Solomon.

However, the story on Collider is Goddard's involvement has been confirmed.

The Sinister Six first appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1" in 1964. The villainous team is led by Doctor Octopus, and consists of supervillains that had crossed paths with Spider-Man such as Vulture, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, and Sandman.

Both "Venom" and "The Sinister Six" are being produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. The five writers, along with the two producers and Marc Webb, have formed a 'franchise brain trust' to expand "The Amazing Spider-Man" universe and to maintain a continuous tone and thread throughout the films.

No release date has been given for "The Sinister Six", but it was recently revealed that Sony plans to release a Spider-Man film every year.

Goddard is also attached to write and direct Marvel's 10-episode "Daredevil" series for Netflix, which will debut in 2015.

Meanwhile, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens in cinemas on 1 May.
