Ethan Hawke joins "Born to Be Blue"

Ethan Hawke gets ready to bask in the smooth groove of Baker's jazz.

25 Oct – A biopic of the legendary American jazz trumpeter and vocalist, Chet Baker, is coming to the big screens and it is set to feature the acting talent of "Boyhood" actor, Ethan Hawke.

Shooting has begun in Ontario, Canada, Deadline.com reports. Hawke is joined by "The Purge: Anarchy" actress Carmen Ejogo and "Fifty Shades of Grey" actor Callum Keith Rennie.

Hawke himself has worked closely with the filmmakers for the project, which is written and directed by Canadian filmmaker Robert Budreau. This would not be the first time for Hawke to be closely involved in a project as he has previously co-written the script to "Before Midnight". The 2013 movie, which he also starred in, went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for its screenplay.

"Born to Be Blue" will be the second big jazz biopic to hit the big screens, following "Kill the Trumpet Player", a Miles Davis biopic by Don Cheadle starring Ewan McGregor and Zoe Saldana.

Hawke will also appear in three more movies due for release this year, which are "Predestination", "Cymbeline" and "Good Kill".
