16 May – Is it time for a Ford resurgence? Hollywood seems to think so with Harrison Ford being officially offered to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the announced sequel of "Blade Runner". Alcon Entertainment CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson had announced that a sequel of the 1982 sci-fi classic is in the works, and they would be 'honored and hopeful' that Ford would accept their offer for him to return to the sequel. The sequel is being written by screenwriters Hampton Fancher, one of the co-writers of the 1982 adaptation of Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", and Michael Green, with Ridley Scott returning to direct. ""We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time," said Kosove and Johnson in their press statement. No major plot details were revealed except that the sequel is believed to be set decades after the original "Blade Runner". Alcon Entertainment had recently acquired the rights from producer Bud Yorkin to produce any sequel or prequel of the sci-fi in 2011 and talks of whether a sequel would be made, with or without Ford, have been circulating until now. Yorkin would be producing the sequel together with the CEOs of Alcon Entertainment. Ford was recently confirmed to be reprising his role as Han Solo in J.J. Abram's "Star Wars: Episode VII", which is expected to be a major role.
