14 Dec – The 2015 Golden Globes nominations bring some surprises, Variety reports, as there are some big names in the film industry that are noticeably missing from its list. "Interstellar" director Christopher Nolan was nominated for Best Director in 2010 for his sci-fi film, "Inception", but is surprisingly snubbed for his moving work this year, which is his most emotional film to date. "Interstellar" star Matthew McConaughey gets a Best Actor nomination but not for the film, getting nominated for his role on TV show "True Detective" instead. "Interstellar" receives only one nomination under the Best Original Score - Motion Picture category, for Hans Zimmer's work. Still, Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken" has it worse. This year, the high profile actress gets not even a nod from the Globes for her directorial effort on the drama about World War II hero Louis Zamperini. The film gets no nomination – not one of the cast, or the screenwriter, or Jolie herself gets nominated for Best Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Director, respectively.
Ben Affleck also gets a taste of the bitter pill as he lands no recognition as a Best Actor nominee for his work in "Gone Girl". His co-star Rosamund Pike, however, is nominated as Best Actress. Director David Fincher, too, gets nominated for Best Director and screenwriter Gillian Flynn for Best Screenplay. The film's fourth nomination goes to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for Best Original Score. "Gone Girl" is one of the films with the most nominations this year, with "The Grand Budapest Hotel", "Selma" and "The Theory of Everything" also earning four nominations. "The Imitation Game" and "Boyhood" garner five while "Birdman" scores seven nominations. The 72nd Golden Globes Awards will take place on 11 January 2015.
