28 Jan – Joe Wright, who is known for directing visually stunning period feature films like "Anna Karenina" and "Atonement", is on a roll booking already two stars in lead roles for his retelling of the classic "Peter Pan" story by J.M. Barrie. Both Garrett Hedlund and Hugh Jackman are cast in Wright's "Pan", playing the roles of Hook and Blackbeard, respectively. Hedlund was most known for his lead role in "Tron: Legacy" and recently in the Golden Globe nominated "Inside Llewyn Davis" by the Coen Brothers, and it will be really interesting to see him portray the iconic role of Captain Hook, made famous by the animated movie from Disney and Dustin Hoffman's portrayal in "Hook".
Hugh Jackman, who is known the world over as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise, is also reported to join Garrett Hedlund in "Pan", playing Blackbeard. "Hugh Jackman always delivers indelible performances that resonate with audiences, we know he will create a Blackbeard who will be a powerful presence in this original Peter Pan adventure," says Greg Silverman, Warner Bros. President of Creative Development. The storyline of "Pan" concentrates on an orphan who is taken to the magical world of Neverland, where he becomes the saviour of the natives and leads a rebellion against evil pirates. This will mean that "Pan" will definitely be sort of an 'origin' story of who Peter Pan is, rather than when he meets Wendy or when he finally grew older. With Jackman cast as Blackbeard and Hedlund signed on as Hook, we look forward to finding out who will be playing Peter Pan in this version.
