24 Nov – "Men who Saved the World", or more known by its Malay title "Lelaki Harapan Dunia", has had quite a number of achievements before it has even been officially released in its home country, Malaysia.
It has recently been chosen as one of the films to be screened at this year's Cambodia International Film Festival (CIFF).
The 5th CIFF will take place from 5 to 10 December 2014, and several renowned films have been selected to be one of the 70 films to be screened during the festival. Some of the screening venues are Sorya Mall Cineplex, Legend Cinemas, French Institute, the Chaktomuk Theater and the Bophana Center as well as an outdoor cinema in Diamond Island.
Other than "Lelaki Harapan Dunia", another Malaysian film set to be screened at CIFF is Edmund Yeo's "River of Exploding Durians", which recently had its world premiere at Tokyo International Film Festival.
"Lelaki Harapan Duina" tells the story of superstitious villagers who mistaken a Nigerian man as an 'orang minyak' and tries to exorcise him, while "River of Exploding Durians" tells the story of an activist group protesting the construction of a rare earth plant near a coastal town.
"Lelaki Harapan Dunia" is set for release in Malaysian cinemas on 27 November 2014.
