30 Sep – Production on the sequel to Channing Tatum's 2012 comedy "Magic Mike" has begun. Along with it, the synopsis and the cast have just been revealed to anticipating moviegoers. "Magic Mike XXL" follows Mike three years after stepping out of his glamorous stripper life. The rest of the Kings of Tampa are ready to quit the game too. Wanting to do it their way, they bring the legendary Magic Mike back just for a night to put on one last magical show at Myrtle Beach. Mike and the gang learn some new moves, as well as make some new friends, on the road to their final show. As for the cast, Coming Soon reports that Channing Tatum will of course be reprising his titular role. He will be joined by returning cast Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias. Matthew McConaughey will not return for the sequel.
Fresh faces who will be joining the production are "The Hunger Games" actress Elizabeth Banks, "Community" actor Donald Glover, "The Rum Diary" actress Amber Heard, "Footloose" actress Andie MacDowell, "Gotham" actress Jada Pinkett Smith and "Live with Kelly and Michael" co-host Michael Strahan. Strahan's involvement in the movie was a much anticipated one by fans, since the retired American footballer first showed off his moves in front of Tatum back in 2012. The two were on "Live" together, Tatum was promoting "Magic Mike", when Strahan decided to showcase his "magic" moves. Not only is he now co-host of the talk show, Tatum has even personally asked him to join the "Magic Mike" team, ABC News reports. "Magic Mike XXL" is set for release in North America on 1 July 2015.
