Marc Webb to leave Spider-Man

Marc Webb will not be directing "The Amazing Spider-Man 4".

18 Mar – Press tours for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" have started and director Marc Webb recently revealed that after "The Amazing Spider-Man 3", he would bow out of the franchise.

Empire Online reported that there would be a fourth Spider-Man film, slated for 4 May 2018, and Webb is interested to continue as a consultant after the third instalment.

"I've already talked to these guys about it, but in terms of directing it, that will close out my tenure. I've had so much fun doing it, but after the third movie, it'll be the time to find something else," Webb said.

When asked if actress Felicity Jones will be playing a villain, Webb merely disclosed that her character works in OsCorp, and as for the film's main villains, it is actually Electro (played by Jamie Foxx).

"Rhino makes a brief appearance," he stressed.

Paul Giamatti plays The Rhino in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".

Webb also elaborated that his Harry Osborn, played by Dane Dehaan, will be significantly different from James Franco's version of the character.

"I wanted (Harry) to be as smart as Peter Parker," he said.

"James Franco is a very intelligent man, but his Harry Osborne was a little bit dopey. This Harry Osborne is incredibly sharp. Harry and Peter are bound by the loss of their fathers and their abandonment issues. In Raimi's film, Harry is trying to protect Peter from getting bullied or whatever, and in this one, they're more like brothers."

In related news, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" stars will be in Singapore on 29 March to kick off Earth Hour.

The film will open in cinemas on 1 May.
