8 Sep – With just a few more days left before the long-awaited science fiction film, "The Maze Runner" hits cinemas, it has been announced that the sequel is already in production. According to Buzzfeed, as production studio Twentieth Century Fox has acquired the rights of the second novel of "The Maze Runner", "The Scorch Trials", the script to the second film is now being written by T. S. Nowlin, with director Wes Ball supervising the scriptwriting. "We've got stages, we've got crews coming in, Dylan will be back in a few weeks, we're building sets, and the script is being written," said Wes Ball to BuzzFeed in an interview. He further added, "It's a bit of a race this time because we're cautiously optimistic, but we're feeling excited we're about to do something that's way more sophisticated, way more grown up, and really set up a saga here." With the success of young-adult genre films such as "Twilight", "Harry Potter", The Hunger Games", "Narnia" and also the recent "Divergent", many studios have turned to young-adult books in the hopes of discovering the next great box office franchise. Ball also said, "Hopefully, they'll want the next one because we pick up exactly where we left off; you could really watch the movies back to back and it would be one long story." "The Maze Runner" comes to cinemas this 11 September 2014.
