19 Sep – The director of "Magic Mike XXL", Gregory Jacobs has confirmed that the character Dallas played by actor Matthew McConaughey in "Magic Mike" will not be returning for the sequel. It is unknown as to why McConaughey is not included. Filming for the sequel had already begun since early September, but director Jacobs did mention that it is going to be "very different" from the first film, according to IndieWire. "It's road trip movie and put it this way, it's different enough that once you see it you'll understand why we made a sequel. No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice." But rest assured, Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello will definitely be back for the sequel.
"Magic Mike XXL" continues from the first film where the strippers of Xquisite will be taken on a road trip from Tampa to Myrtle Beach for a convention. Jacobs will also co-produce the film along with Reid Carolin, Nick Wechsler, and Channing Tatum who is also scripting the sequel together with Carolin. Steven Soderbergh who directed the first "Magic Mike" will act as the cinematographer and editor for the film. "Magic Mike" which was released in 2012 was a box office hit, collecting over USD167.2 million worldwide from only a USD7 million budget. The sequel is scheduled to arrive at U.S. cinemas on 3 July 2015. Since the first movie was not shown in Malaysia, seems unlikely that sequel will make it too. Singapore is more likely to bring in the sequel as with the first movie.
