Sony cancels Steve Jobs' biopic

Sony cancels Steve Jobs' biopic.

20 Nov – It was previously reported that Sony was making its own Steve Jobs biopic, with Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle set to direct and "The Social Network" screenwriter Aaron Sorkin penning the script.

However, the latest news as reported by Deadline states that Sony has cancelled their project. There were no reasons given to the sudden decision.

Sony acquired the rights to the movie in 2011, shortly after the Apple co-founder's death. Now that Sony is no longer tied to the project, Deadline speculates that Universal might be the next studio to make the biopic.

Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen were previously reported to be joining the project as Jobs himself and another Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, respectively.

Jobs' role was initially offered to Christian Bale but the "Batman" actor decided he was not right for the job. Sorkin also said that Jobs' daughter, Lisa, was set to play the heroine.

No release date has been set for the movie so far.
