Taylor Kitsch to star in "The Raid" remake

Kitsch ready to take on another intense role.

5 Aug – Just as words of Taylor Kitsch joining HBO's "True Detective" is going around, another good news joins in the rumor mill. The "Battleship" star has received an offer for the leading role in the remake of the Indonesian hit, "The Raid".

Having acted in various movies; "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", "Savages" and "John Carter", to name a few, Kitsch will not be having any trouble starring in an action remake.

However, The Wrap reports that the decision to accept the part has yet to be announced as the actor might not have enough time on hand, since the timing for both the major film and television projects might overlap. Not only will he need time to memorize the script, he will also need intense training to look the part.

Iko Uwais was the lead for both of the Indonesian hit "The Raid" movies.

Produced by XYZ Films, "The Raid" remake is set to be directed by Patrick Hughes, of "The Expendables 3" fame, and the script will be written by Brad Ingelsby, writer of "Run All Night".

So far, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" actor, Frank Grillo, is the only confirmed cast for the remake.

The script will closely follow the original movie by Gareth Evans, which tells the story of a small police squad in Indonesia infiltrating an apartment block run by gangsters who are dangerously armed with machetes and machine guns.

Starring Iko Uwais, "The Raid: Redemption" was released in 2012, followed by the sequel, "The Raid 2: Berandal" released just early this year.

Originally scheduled for 28 March 2014 in Malaysia, the sequel was banned by the Film Censorship Board of Malaysia for its excessive violence.
