Williams reportedly hanged himself

Robin Williams confirmed to have committed suicide.

13 Aug – The world is still reeling from the shock of losing one of the greatest actors to have ever graced the silver screen, now another piece of information has come to light that will not do much in the way of consoling Robin Williams' devoted fans.

Williams' death has been confirmed as suicide. While yesterday police speculated it to be the apparent cause of death, today they have confirmed that Williams took his own life by hanging himself.

Assistant country coroner, sheriff's Lt. Keith Boyd, said the actor's stiffening body was found suspended from a belt secured between the door and the frame.

Williams was last seen alive by his wife on Sunday night. She went to bed alone and did not see him before leaving the house the next day as she thought he was still asleep in another room. A personal assistant went to check on the actor a little before noon and immediately called 911 after finding the rigid body.

Police found a stained pocket knife near the body but the red substance on it is yet to be determined as Williams' blood. There are however slash marks found on the inside of his left wrist.

Boyd refused to comment further on the state of the crime scene but assured that investigation will continue, in order to rule out any foul play.

Wife, Susan Schneider: "As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

Daughter, Zelda Williams: "To those he touched who are sending kind words, know that one of his favourite things in the world was to make you all laugh."

Son, Zak Williams: "I will carry his heart with me every day. I would ask those that loved him to remember him by being as gentle, kind, and generous as he would be."

Son, Cody Williams: "There are no words strong enough to describe the love and respect I have for my father. The world will never be the same without him."
