4 Mar – Due to the abundance of movies this Chinese New Year, Chinese box office has managed to beat the U.S. collection for the first time ever. China is the biggest box-office market in the world for the month of February, a feat previously never achieved, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Based on the data from research firm Entgroup, the United States combined with Canada, to make up the North American box office, have a collection of USD710 million. However, when counting just the U.S. alone, the market has only collected USD640 million – 10 million less than China's February earnings. Chinese New Year sees the release of several Chinese movies featuring big names in the country's film industry. The box office is led by Chow Yun Fat-starrer "From Vegas to Macau 2", with its gross of USD104 million. Jackie Chan's "Dragon Blade", which also stars Hollywood actors John Cusack and Adrien Brody, gets USD95 million. Sino-French film "Wolf Totem", 3D fantasy action "Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal" and romantic film "Somewhere Only We Know" round up the top five.
