28 May – "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine is reportedly in negotiations to star opposite Gal Gadot in "Wonder Woman" as the titular superhero's love interest. Pine is being eyed to play Steve Trevor, according to Variety, in the origin story. If the deal goes through, this will be Pine's first venture into the world of comic-based superheroes. The character in the comic is a United States Army intelligent officer during World War II, whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, home to the Amazons. The Amazon princess, Diana, nursed him back to health and eventually fell for him. She followed him back to the outside world, where she became his co-worker, Diana Prince, and her alter ego, Wonder Woman.
Word has it, before Pine was offered the role, "The Longest Ride" actor Scott Eastwood was given the option to test for the part or take a guaranteed supporting role in "Suicide Squad". Eastwood settled for the latter. Pine, well known for his role as James T. Kirk in 2009's "Star Trek" and 2013's "Star Trek into Darkness", will be seen on the big screen next in "Z for Zachariah" and "The Finest Hours".
