Cody Walker lands first acting gig in "USS Indianapolis"

Cody Walker gets his first acting role.

20 Jul – Cody Walker has landed his first significant role as an actor. The 27-year-old trained paramedic is set to appear in American war thriller, "USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage".

Cody will be acting in the Mario Van Peebles-helmed movie, according to Deadline, alongside the likes of Nicolas Cage, Tom Sizemore and Thomas Jane.

The movie, set in July 1945, will focus on the Navy ship USS Indianapolis, which was torpedoed by the Japanese while returning from Tinian after a secret mission to deliver parts of the atom bomb Little Boy. The ship sank in 12 minutes and most of its men were eaten by sharks while they waited for rescue for four days. Nicolas Cage stars as the ship's Captain Charles McVay while Cody will play one of the Navy sailors.

Cody first voiced his interest in pursuing a career as an actor back in April, after the release of "Fast and Furious 7", in which he got his first taste in acting as he was a stand-in for his late brother Paul, who passed away in an off-set single vehicle accident while filming for the movie was still underway.

Cody, who is also a brand manager for Reach Out Worldwide charity foundation, will begin his career with this first major supporting role in the upcoming war movie.

He is also expected to be introduced in the next instalment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise possibly as a new character related to Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor.
