9 Mar – Comedy actor Harun Salim Bachik has passed away at the age of 55, after reportedly suffering from breathing difficulties that led to his demise. "He was walking to the restroom at around 4.15pm when he suddenly collapsed," said former Seniman deputy president, Elyas Iskandar Ismail, to BERNAMA. The late actor, who was on his way back to Kuala Lumpur from Penang with his wife and children, made a stop at the Gunung Semanggol Rest and Service Area in Perak at around 3.30pm yesterday. His death is classified as sudden death and the body had since been taken to Hospital Taiping for post-mortem. Harun, whose real name is Haron Aminar Rashid Salim, is survived by his wife, Suriati Mohd Nor; six children; and three grandchildren. The son to '50s actor, Salim Bachik, was recently seen on the big screen in "Lelaki Harapan Dunia" as well as in FFM26's Best Film "KIL". Some of his noted films include "Man Laksa", "Baik Punya Cilok", "Setem", and "Papadom". He also served as the President of Seniman (Malaysian Association of Artists) from 2010 to 2011. Harun Salim Bachik was laid to rest after Zohor prayers today, at the Taman Koperasi Polis Muslim cemetery in Gombak.
