22 Jul – Since the movie "Kapsul" does revolve around the Vision 2020 time capsule buried by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad at the Millennium Monument in Putrajaya, it is only fitting that the former premier star as himself in the upcoming movie. It was reported back in 2013 that the late Martias Mohd Ali was in talks to feature Tun Mahathir as himself in the patriotic movie, looks like the talks had come to fruition as he will be seen on the big screen come September. Tun Mahathir will be starring in five scenes in total, including one with Faizal Hussein, who plays the main character Zohri.
"Kapsul" follows Zohri, who discovers a time capsule called Vision 2020 which was buried by Tun Mahathir. He steals the time capsule but it ends up taking him back to the past, where he finds himself arriving at the era when the Malays are struggling to achieve independence. Martias, who passed away from blood cancer on 29 May last year, directed the movie based on a script he wrote, inspired, of course, by the Vision 2020 time capsule. The movie will also feature Dato' Rahim Razali, Dato' Ahmad Tarmimi, Adlin Aman Ramli, Shaharuddin Thamby and Internet millionaire, Irfan Khairi. "Kapsul" opens in cinemas this 17 September.
