27 May – With the onslaught of superhero movies making it to the big screen, it's no surprise 20th Century Fox wants in on the game too. Fox is taking another stab at turning its own superhero property into a franchise, according to The Tracking Board, as the studio is developing a reboot of the Sean Connery-starrer "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". The reboot will be produced by John Davis (1987's "Predator", 2004's "I, Robot", 2012's "Chronicle") under his Davis Entertainment banner. The 2003 superhero movie was very loosely based on the first book in the graphic novel series by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill. Apart from Connery, in his last big screen appearance, Naseeruddin Shah, Peta Wilson, Stuart Townsend and Shane West were among the cast who played the Victorian-era superheroes who team up to fight a common enemy. The historical fantasy movie was meant to be the first of a franchise, but plans for sequels were scrapped when it underperformed at the box office. Based on Box Office Mojo stats, it only collected a worldwide gross of USD180 million against its USD78 million budget.
