10 Nov – As many awaits the release of the highly-anticipated "Return of the Cuckoo" movie, main actor Julian Cheung has confirmed to the media that there will not be a sequel for the upcoming movie. The movie, which continues from the award-winning TVB drama of the same name from 15 years ago, features the returning cast of the original 20-episode series: Julian Cheung, Charmaine Sheh and Nancy Sit, along with Joe Chen as the new addition to the cast. During the press conference of "Return of the Cuckoo", when asked about any possible sequel for the movie, Julian Cheung told the press that there might not be a sequel after all.
"I don't think there will be a sequel, because we couldn't wait for another 15 years," Julian, who is also fondly known as Chilam, jokingly said at JW Marriott hotel. Veteran actress Nancy Sit, who was also present at the event along with Charmaine Sheh, added, "The two of them might still be here after 15 years, but I don't think that I will!" When asked about their experience having to play the same characters from 15 years ago, the cast mentioned that they feel very familiar and nostalgic working together once again.
"I believe that the movie is very unique and is probably one of a kind too, because even though drama-turned-movie has already been a trend, but to have a movie that continues from 15 years ago is probably a first in Hong Kong movie history," said the 65-year-old actress. This is the second time that Julian Cheung and Charmaine Sheh visit Malaysia together to promote a movie, they previously came to Malaysia in February to promote "Triumph in the Skies".
