Seth Gordon in talks to direct The Rock's "Baywatch"

Seth Gordon may be directing "Baywatch".

25 Jul – While it is already confirmed that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be starring in the upcoming big screen adaptation of "Baywatch", the movie has yet to find a director – until now.

Seth Gordon is reportedly in talks to direct "Baywatch", according to The Hollywood Reporter, with production targeted to start in early 2016.

It was previously reported that the team behind "Horrible Bosses 2", Sean Anders and John Morris, was directing but looks like it's the helmer of the original "Horrible Bosses" who will be the one to snag the deal instead.

The cast of the American TV series, "Baywatch".

The movie will be a comedy even though the popular TV series didn't exactly fall under that genre. The trick of getting just the right comedic tone is what has kept the movie in its pre-production stage for quite a while, but it looks like the script has been sanded to smooth perfection now since Paramount is slowly starting to round up the cast and director.

"Baywatch" follows Johnson as a very serious, by-the-book lifeguard who has to team up with a rule-breaking hothead in an attempt to save their beach from being destructed by an oil tycoon.

Gordon last worked on 2013's "Identity Thief" while Johnson is currently working on "Central Intelligence" and will also appear in various upcoming movies including Disney's "Moana", Warner Bros.' "Shazam" and two "Journey to the Center of the Earth" sequels.
