19 Dec – "Riddick" star Vin Diesel has recently taken to Facebook to update fans on the movie's current status. "Are you guys excited to hear about "Furia"?", the actor asked on his Facebook live stream. "Do you want to know where it all started, where it all began, with that dark character Riddick?" In the video, also guest-starring David Twohy, the writer-director of the "Riddick" franchise, Diesel revealed that the sequel will be an origin story. While Diesel was not sure whether the movie will be rated-R, Twohy assured him, "It'll be rated R." The first instalment of the "Riddick" franchise was 2000's "Pitch Black", followed by 2004's "The Chronicles of Riddick" and nine years later, 2013's "Riddick". The successful franchise has spawned video games, short films and even motion comics. Apart from starring in the franchise, Diesel is busy expanding it further. The actor-producer's One Race Television, according to Coming Soon, is teaming up with Universal Television for a TV spinoff, "Merc City". "Riddick 4: Furia" is only expected to begin filming in 2017. Understandable, since Diesel will be busy working alongside Samuel L. Jackson in the third "xXx", filming the first movie of the final "Fast and Furious" trilogy, and reprising his starring role in the sequel for "The Pacifier". Catch Vin Diesel next in "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk", opening in cinemas on 10 November 2016.
