"23 Jump Street" and "Men in Black" crossover!

"Men in Black" and "23 Jump Street" crossover is happening!

7 Mar – One of the leaked titles during the 2014 infamous Sony hack was for a "23 Jump Street" and "Men in Black" crossover. Two years later, and James Bobin from "The Muppets" is now expected to take the helm for the comedy as reported by Variety.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the dynamic duo behind Schmidt and Jenko will not be directing the film as they did with the previous two "Jump Street" movies, but will be producing the crossover film.

Lord told MTV shortly after the story broke, "Nothing's changed, It's still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they're going to be terrible... We're really focusing on what's a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives. And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time!"

It's exciting to think that there might be a '2121 Jump Street' after Miller revealed that he considers the entire list of sequels featured in the "22 Jump Street" end credits part as the official franchise continuity.

"Those are canon, all 22 sequels," he said. "If we're going to do something, it's got to be different but still have that same very specific Jump Street flavor to it."

According to The Verge, none of the original "Men in Black" cast, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, will be involved in the project.

Sony sees the "Jump Street" crossover as a way to relaunch "Men in Black" with the new actors involved in the crossover possibly being the new face of the "Men in Black" franchise.

Production is expected to begin mid-year with a script from Rodney Rothman under the direction of James Bobin.

His latest film, "Alice Through The Looking Glass" starring Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen comes to cinemas this August.
