Daisy Ridley likely to play Lara Croft in "Tomb Raider" reboot

Since Ridley's schedule is booked with "Star Wars" films, so could she take on "Tomb Raider"?

11 Mar – British actress Daisy Ridley from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" may be the next Lara Croft in a Warner Bros. and MGM reboot of "Tomb Raider".

The 23-year-old is apparently one of the favourites to play the role, although the names of the other actresses under consideration were not mentioned, according to Deadline.

Previously portrayed by Angelina Jolie, Lara Croft is an archaeologist, adventurer and explorer from the "Tomb Raider" game franchise.

Angelina Jolie played the character twice in 2001 and 2003.

The upcoming film is the latest adaptation that has been in development for a few years now.

The project was revived when game developer Square Enix rebooted the game in 2013.

The younger take on the character's origin is believed to have given the producers some inspiration.

Pre-production is still in its early stages, so no official offers have been made and the reboot is expected to hit cinema screens only in 2017.
