19 May – Not wanting to lose to beefy Hollywood co-star Vin Diesel, martial arts actor Donnie Yen recently decided that he too should bulk up for their movie, "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage". As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, who has been working on several films back-to-back since last year, revealed that he had undergone rigorous training and diet to build more muscles and finally got the defined lower abs that he wanted for his character in the movie. "I haven't had a real meal for a long time. But my determination exceeds my hunger," said Donnie. The actor added that as a 53-year-old Hong Kong martial arts actor, he wanted to be on par with his co-stars in the film. "Chinese stars can rival foreign actors, as long as you put in the extra effort. We can do it, despite our age," he said. The movie, directed by D.J. Caruso and co-starring Tony Jaa, Jet Li, and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as Bollywood star, Deepika Padukone, is set to hit cinemas on 20 January 2017. (Photo source: Donnie Yen's Weibo)
