Emma Stone likely to play Cruella de Vil for Disney

Emma Stone will be the second person to play Cruella after Glenn Close.

7 Jan – Emma Stone is in talks to play the role of the iconic Disney villain, Cruella de Vil for Disney's upcoming film, "Cruella".

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Disney is using the character from "101 Dalmations" for an origin story, but the studio is still searching for a director as they plan to begin shooting later this year.

Kelly Marcel is writing the script for the film, which Aline Brosh McKenna had worked on previously.

Cruella is the evil persona in the 1961 animated classic. She's an old school friend of the titular dogs' co-owner and promptly organises a plan to steal the pups in order to skin them for their hides.

Glenn Close from "Damages" played her in the 1996 live-action film version.

Stone, who turned 27 last November, is known for playing Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and the sequel.

Her latest film, "La La Land" directed by Damien Chazelle has no release date in Malaysia but will be at cinemas this 17 July 2016 in Singapore.
