2 Nov – It seems that no one can pass up the chance to be in the "Harry Potter" universe. Just ask Johnny Depp, who will be starring in the sequel of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". But before that, Deadline has reported that Depp would be making a cameo in next month's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" as a secret character Warner Bros. have yet to disclose. Before November's release of the first film starring Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as wizard Newt Scamander, author and screenwriter J.K. Rowling - much to the skepticism of the majority of "Harry Potter" fans - announced that there are five films planned for the franchise. So with the casting of a big name like Depp announced, it is assumed that the following sequels would be adding on more A-listers as well to keep the films afloat with big stars that have the draw to pull in their own fans aside from the dedicated Potter fans.
Whatever it is, this seems like a good albeit strange casting choice. Hopefully viewers would be able to find Depp credible in the magical world after being so used to seeing him in a myriad of iconic characters thus far, especially Captain Jack Sparrow which will return to the big screen via "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" in May 2017. Directed by David Yates, the setting of "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" begins 60 years before the events in "Harry Potter" where unsuspecting wizard Newt Scamander arrives in a very sinister yet magical New York City. With his multi-dimensional leather case that's home to rescued magical creatures that soon escape into the city, he goes on a hunt to recover them and also faces the powerful dark wizard, Gellert Grindelwald. Apart from Redmayne, the first movie also stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight. According to Yates, the Depp starring second movie will be very different and will be set in another city. Apart from Redmayne, none of the other cast members from the first movie have been confirmed for the sequel.
