28 Jan – From the creators of A Design Film Festival comes a new film festival focusing on food and its relation with design as FoodCine.ma is set to debut in Singapore this April.

Organised by the Anonymous team, a multidisciplinary studio based in Singapore, the one-of-a-kind film festival will be held at Objectifs, a non-profit visual arts centre dedicated to promoting photography and film, from 29 April to 14 May 2016.

"FoodCine.ma is a film festival that looks at design through the lens of food," explained Anonymous of their Instagram page. "Food is a complex subject where our identity and culture come together. And if you look closely, how a chef works is very similar to how a designer works."

"The spirit of using different ingredients (materials and mediums) and arranging them in a new way. If design is a language, food are pictograms, easily understood and recognised universally," the team added.

The event is expected to draw more than 5,000 attendees for its first edition.

The main highlight of the event will be the Southeast Asian premiere of "Noma: My Perfect Storm", a documentary which chronicles the creative journey of award-winning Danish chef René Redzepi.

Other film titles for the festival will be announced soon.
