28 Nov – In conjunction with the upcoming release of "Rogue One: A Star Wars story", Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has launched limited edition "Star Wars" T-shirts for a charitable cause. The proceeds of the T-shirt sales will be donated to the Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak- Kanak Cornerstone welfare home. The designs for the T-shirts were inspired from home-grown artiste, Mahathir Masri's graffiti work on the walls of the cinema. The artist who is also known by his alias, THEY, had worked with GSC previously in painting the walls of the cinema with characters from his favourite movies such as "Star Wars", Marvel Superhero movies and "Fast and Furious" among others. Speaking to Cinema Online, THEY said that he is happy that his work is now being transpired from walls to T-shirts. "I am really happy that my work is being developed from graffiti into t-shirt designs and also excited that it is done for a charitable cause." "I hope that more events like this are conducted and the art of graffiti gets the recognition it deserves," added the 34-year-old. GSC also partnered up with four local fashion designers, Calvin Thoo, Jimmy Lim, Nerd Unit, and Stoned & Co to create 28 unique ways to wear the T-shirts. Fans who would like to get the limited edition T-shirts and at the same time donate for charity can do so by purchasing a special e-combo that costs RM38.90 using the GSC Mobile app. The e-combo that will be available from 28 November 2016 onwards will come with a regular popcorn, a soft drink and the special edition T-shirt that's available in either black or white. The latest spin off of the epic space opera tells the story of a group of resistance fighters who unite to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Gal actic Empire`s deep space mobile battle station that is capable of destroying entire planets.
