"Interchange" opens Singapore International Film Festival


The cast of upcoming Malaysian movie "Interchange" with director Dain Iskandar and actress Michelle Yeoh.

24 Nov – Southeast Asia's longest-running international film platform, Singapore International Film Festival opened yesterday at Marina Bay Sands with Malaysian star Michelle Yeoh as its guest of honour.

The 27th edition of the film fest also saw the attendance of celebrated Malaysian auteur Dain Iskandar Said and award-winning Indonesian TV personality and actor, Nicholas Saputra, joining Michelle as part of the opening ceremony which saw to the Singaporean premiere of "Interchange".

The movie directed by Dain Iskandar, stars Malaysian actors Shaheizy Sam, Iedil Putra and Alvin Chong along with Indonesian actors Nicholas Saputra and Prisia Nasution among others.

But all eyes were on Michelle as the actress kept tight-lipped over her role in the much anticipated "Star Trek" TV series.

"I loved Star Trek when I was growing up and I am a huge fan of the show but I think it's better to wait for the announcement from CBS themselves," said the Malaysian born Hollywood actress.

The 27th Singapore International Film Festival also premiered a Singaporean short film, "The Pursuit of a Happy Human Life" as an opener and it is set to screen more than 160 selected films from both the local and international film industry.

December 4th will mark the end of the 12-day celebration that aims to champion the voice of Asian cinema.
