5 May – After two years of silence, fangs have been drawn out once again with the recent development in Universal's remake of "Interview with the Vampire". Back in 2014, the studio obtained full motion picture rights to the entire Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" series. It was then reported that a movie franchise was being developed, with plans not to remake the first novel, "Interview with the Vampire" – which was already adapted into a movie back in 1994, but to instead adapt the second and third novels onto the big screen. Looks like there had been changes to the plans, because based on writer-director Josh Boone's recent Instagram post, the remake is still in the cards. Boone, along with horror writer-director Jill Killington, has finished penning the remake script, based on first and second novels, "Interview with the Vampire" (1976) and "The Vampire Lestat" (1985). The first novel's 1994 movie adaptation, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, was highly successful. It garnered positive reviews and earned USD223.7 million against its USD60 million budget. It is unknown whether the two stars will be returning for the remake. Cruise is currently signed on to another Universal remake, "The Mummy", while Pitt will be seen this year starring in Robert Zemeckis' "Allied" and David Michôd "War Machine". Apart from the "Vampire" remake, Boone has been busy working on Fox's "The New Mutants", an addition to the "X-Men" franchise which he is helming. He has been posting images on his Instagram of the characters that fans can expect to see in the upcoming movie.
