Lucasfilm sues Lightsaber school over logo

Get your lightsabers ready, this is war.

18 Oct – A "Star Wars"-themed academy finds itself at the wrong end of the lightsaber when it was recently slammed with a lawsuit by the maker of the popular space saga.

Lucasfilm is suing Lightsaber Academy on the grounds that the latter is using a logo much too similar to the Jedi Order Logo in "Star Wars".

"Defendants regularly use the Lucasfilm Trademarks without authorization in connection with their businesses. Among other infringing activities, Defendants use a logo ("Defendants' Infringing Logo") that is nearly identical, and confusingly similar, to Lucasfilm's trademark Jedi Order logo."

The statement was made in the lawsuit document which is currently making its round on the internet. Also included is an image of the two said logos placed side by side for comparison.

While we await the result of the case and see which side will emerge victorious (but who's the Dark Side here?), let's take a look at the other times that some companies, brands or organisations somehow end up with a logo strikingly similar to another company, brand or organisation:

Stadt Brühl (Left) and Beats.

Airbnb (Left) and Automation Anywhere.

pseudoroom design (Left) and Cyberathlete Professional League.

Sun microsystems (Left) and Columbia Sportswear Company.

Motorola (Left) and Marmot.
