5 Oct – What perfect way to celebrate the month of Halloween by watching one of the highly-acclaimed horror movies of this year, "The Wailing". The movie is still one week away from its official release date, but lucky Cinema Online readers already had the chance to watch it yesterday evening. Winners from our contest gathered at TGV Cinemas 1 Utama at 9pm on Tuesday to watch the highly-anticipated South Korean horror movie.
Most were looking forward to it as it did premiere to praises at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Also, as mentioned by one winner, Lim Poon Loy, "It received 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes." The movie came from renowned director Na Hong-Jin, who has been amassing awards since the release of his directorial debut, 2008's "The Chaser", followed by his 2010 movie, "The Yellow Sea", which was also screened at Cannes.
Starring the likes of Kwak Do-Won, Hwang Jung-Min, Chun Woo-Hee and more, the horror movie tells of a village whose residents start falling ill, eventually turning insane and murderous, after the arrival of a mysterious man. Jong-gu, an investigating officer, gets involved deeper than he wishes to when his own daughter falls prey to the strange disease and he has to find a way to save her. Cover your ears (or scream along), "The Wailing" comes into cinemas this 13 October 2016.
