1 Feb - The Screen Actors Guild Awards continued awarding the industries best for the 22nd time over the weekend at Los Angeles. Actors presented awards to other actors honouring the best performances in film and television from the past year. The race to the Oscars has been unpredictable as usual with "Spotlight" headlining the night winning the outstanding performance by cast although none of its actors were prized with individual awards. The SAG voters proved that rewarding actors of colour is no big deal, on the contrary to Oscar's 'all-white' nominations. Idris Elba walked away with 2 statues, one for TV's 'Luther" and the other for the supporting role in "Beasts of No Nation". Leonardo DiCaprio was the obvious choice for the outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role as the fan-favourite bagged the award for "The Revenant" while actress Brie Larson won outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role.
