Spielberg will direct Harrison Ford in "Indiana Jones 5"

Harrison Ford will return to play Indiana Jones for the fifth time!

16 Mar – Harrison Ford will be donning his hat and whip one more time for the fifth installment of "Indiana Jones".

Steven Spielberg will be returning to the director's chair but George Lucas would not be returning as executive producer as he sold LucasFilm to Disney, confirms Deadline.

Lucas and Spielberg came up with the idea for the Indiana Jones series while on a vacation in Hawaii after the release of the first "Star Wars" movie in 1977 and only commenced production once they saw the details eye to eye.

This is the first "Indiana Jones" film without Lucas and it is already aiming for a release date of 19 July 2019.

"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can't wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019," Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said in a statement. "It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."

Ford has been reprising many roles recently, one of them being Han Solo in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and he will also be involved in the upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel.

The previous four "Indiana Jones" movies have grossed almost USD 2 billion worldwide and with the fifth film coming in 2019, it will definitely pass the USD2 billion mark.
