14 Nov – Japanese anime icon, Hayao Miyazaki, is stepping out of his retirement for a movie titled "Boro the Caterpillar". The movie, initially planned as a short CG film to be exclusively screened in Japan's Ghibli museum is now believed to be making its way onto the big screen as a feature film. This was according to Miyazaki himself as he stated on a NHK TV special that he was unsatisfied with the CG project as a short and had presented a proposal for a feature-length version. The film which has been in development for over 20 years is about the story of a tiny, hairy caterpillar that according to Miyazaki "is so tiny that it may be easily squished between your fingers". The living legend in the anime industry is known for his work in "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Princess Mononoke", and "Spirited Away" among others. The 75-year-old director previously announced his retirement after "Princess Mononoke" but then made a comeback to write and direct "Spirited Away" which won him an Academy Award in 2003. "Boro the Caterpillar" is expected to be five years away from its release, but fans can certainly rejoice that the iconic Director is back doing what he does best. (Photo Source: Cinepremiere.com)
