Adele in talks for her Hollywood debut

News about the movie debut broke following hints that Adele might stop touring.

5 Sep – It seems that a career switch might be in sight for Adele!

The Grammy Award-wining singer is currently in talks to play Nancy in an upcoming movie adaption of the musical "Oliver!", according to The Sun.

If all goes well, the role of the kind-hearted prostitute will mark the Londoner's first acting gig, who hinted back in June that she was done with touring.

"It would be a major part for her and she's seriously considering it," a source close to the mother of four-year-old Angelo revealed.

"She's talked about Angelo being her number one priority and she sees this as a role that he could appreciate too. It would be a new challenge for her but one she would definitely be up for."

Adele has for the moment taken a step out of the limelight after she was forced to cancel two of her Wembley tour dates due to her vocal cords' injury.

"I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artist have had on me live.

"And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don't know if I'll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home," the singer of the 2012 James Bond flick's "Skyfall" admitted in a handwritten letter to fans.

West End maestro Sir Cameron Mackintosh and Working Title Films, who together masterminded the Oscar-winning adaptation of "Les Misérables", will be producing the movie.

Based on Charles Dicken's novel "Oliver Twist", the Victorian classic was turned into a stage musical in 1960, adapted later into an award-winning film "Oliver!", starring Ron Moody and Jack Wild in 1968.
