14 Feb – "Rise of the Legend", a movie based on the life of Malaysia's badminton hero, Dato' Lee Chong Wei is currently in the making, and producers are looking for candidates to play the role of the sports legend. A casting call has been posted on the movie's official Facebook page, seeking out suitable candidates to play the role of young Lee Chong Wei as well as other key roles that were influential and important in the life of the badminton champion.
There are different requirements for the different roles in filmmaker Teng Bee's film and they are: age, badminton skills, height, size and personality specific, but the candidate that will be playing the role of Lee must be aged between 10 to 18-years-old.
The auditions are open to all Malaysian of all races and will take place at three locations: Permata Sports Complex in Penang on 5 March, C&Y Sport Badminton Centre in Johor Bahru on 11 March, and Pioneer Sport @ Sunsuria Avenue in Kota Damansara on 18 March. Candidates are required to bring their identification card (IC) to the auditions while those below 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
